April 21, 2015. [[NASA]] launches an initiative  known as the Nexus for Exoplanet System Science-- or "[[NExSS]]" to lead the search for life in the universe. The [[NExSS]] is a multidiscipline approach to search for extraterrestrial life. Since the launch of NASA's [[Kepler Space Telescope]] in 2009, more than 2,000 [[exoplanets]] have been found. The [[Planet Hunters project]] is intended to allow  "citizen scientists" the opportunity to discover planets by visually examining light curves.  260,000 people have looked at 20 million [[light curves]] by eye.  [[NASA]] apparently believes life is on habitable [[exoplanets]], and the public can help find it.

[[Jan Harzan]], Executive Director of [[MUFON]], has noticed increasing interest and calls from credible scientists, engineers and politicians.  The open hunt for extraterrestrials may be because governments already have knowledge of their existence.
