At approximately 3:00 AM on November 30, 1989, [[Linda Napolitano (Abductee)|Linda Napolitano]] reported waking to find herself paralyzed. Three small gray entities entered her bedroom. She was floated through the closed window of her 12th-floor apartment in a blue beam of light and drawn upward into a reddish-orange spacecraft hovering above. She was examined aboard the craft before being returned to her bedroom. The craft then reportedly moved toward the Brooklyn Bridge and submerged in the East River.

The case took on its extraordinary character in February 1991 when Hopkins received letters from "Richard" and "Dan," claiming to have witnessed the event from below the FDR Drive — fifteen months after it allegedly occurred.
