Eisenhower Briefing Document

[edit | edit source]

The 'Eisenhower Briefing Document' was part of the first batch of leaked UFO-related documents that are known as the Majestic Documents. It is an 8-page briefing document for President Eisenhower and deals with crashes in Roswell, NM, and El Indio, TX, as well as with the existence of a special council, called MJ-12, and its members.

History

[edit | edit source]

On 11 December 1984, Jamie Shandera, a producer of TV documentaries, received an envelope with a canister of exposed but undeveloped black & white 35mm film, (i.e. photograph negatives). These contained photographs of several documents, which nowadays are referred to as the MJ-12 documents, or Majestic Documents.

One of the documents was the so-called Eisenhower Briefing. It was "an eight page briefing paper to President Eisenhower detailing a UFO crash at Roswell, New Mexico in 1947, another crash at El Indio, Texas in 1950, and listing the members of the government's special Majestic-12 or 'MJ-12' UFO group. It was dated '18 November, 1952', and it gave Admiral Roscoe H. Hillenkoetter as the briefing officer." (UFO evidence website)

An overview of the MJ-12 members can be found on the MJ-12 page.

Authenticity

[edit | edit source]

The authenticity of the document is disputed. Some, like Alejandro Rojas, believe the entire thing is a hoax, created by Bill Moore. Others, like Stanton Friedman and Timothy Good concluded that while the actual document that was photographed was a fake, most of the content was accurate. Bob and Ryan Wood concluded that the document probably is genuine.

In 2010, Henry W. McElroy, Jr, a retiring State Representative to New Hampshire, made headlines when he declared he had seen the original document and confirmed its content.
