1952 Washington, D.C. UFO Incident:
The 1952 Washington, D.C. UFO incident (sometimes called the "Washington Flap" or the "Washington National Airport Sightings") was a series of UFO sightings over Washington, D.C., primarily on the nights of July 19–20 and July 26–27, 1952. The case is one of the most significant ever investigated by Project Blue Book and directly triggered the formation of the Robertson Panel.
Exeter Incident:
The Exeter Incident (also known as the Exeter UFO Sightings or the 1965 Exeter, New Hampshire UFO Sighting) was a series of UFO sightings near Exeter, New Hampshire, in September 1965. The case was investigated by Project Blue Book, which was unable to provide a satisfactory conventional explanation, and it became one of the most widely publicized UFO cases of the 1960s.
Kenneth Arnold Sighting:
On June 24, 1947, private pilot Kenneth Arnold departed from Chehalis, Washington, aboard a single-engine Call Air A-2 aircraft, bound for an air show in Pendleton, Oregon. En route, Arnold detoured to assist in the search for a United States Marine Corps transport plane that had reportedly crashed on the southwest slopes of Mount Rainier, Washington.
Lubbock Lights:
The Lubbock Lights were a series of UFO sightings that occurred in and around Lubbock, Texas, in August and September 1951. The case is one of the most significant and most discussed investigated by Project Blue Book, in part because of the credibility of the witnesses and the existence of photographs.
Mantell UFO Incident:
The Mantell UFO Incident refers to the death of Kentucky Air National Guard pilot Captain Thomas F. Mantell on January 7, 1948, while pursuing an unidentified flying object over Godman Field, Kentucky. It is one of the earliest and most widely studied cases associated with Project Blue Book and its predecessor programs.
Nash-Fortenberry Sighting:
The Nash-Fortenberry Sighting was a UFO incident that occurred on July 14, 1952, near Newport News, Virginia, and was investigated by Project Blue Book. It is considered one of the most credible sightings of the early 1950s due to the professional background of the witnesses.
Portage County UFO Chase:
The Portage County UFO Chase was a UFO incident that occurred in the early morning hours of April 17, 1966, beginning near Ravenna, Ohio, in Portage County, and resulting in a pursuit by multiple law enforcement officers across approximately 85 miles to Freedom, Pennsylvania. The case was investigated by Project Blue Book and became one of the most controversial in the project's history.
Project BLUE BOOK - Unidentified Flying Objects:
The National Archives has received numerous inquiries concerning documents identified as "MJ12" and "Briefing Document: Operation Majestic 12." We have made extensive searches among the records in our custody of the U.S. Air Force and the Joint Chiefs of Staff to identify these documents.
