The legend of Hangar 18, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, gets it start during the crash of a UFO in the desert near Roswell, New Mexico, in July 1947. According to a press release issued by the Roswell Army Air Field (RAAF) at the time, their personnel inspected the “flying disc” and sent it on to “higher headquarters.”

Hanger 18:
It is suggested that debris from the 1947 Roswell incident, where a craft and its crew (from another world) had allegedly crashed and were recovered, was shipped to the hangar. However, the USAF denies the existence of Hangar 18.
