Whistleblowers, Informants and Researchers may die suddenly due to a variety of reasons, including suicide, retaliation, S.I.D.S. or other factors:

Retaliation
They may experience reprisals such as harassment, emotional manipulation, and gaslighting, which can lead to workplace traumatic stress (WTS) and moral injury (MI). This can cause whistleblowers to experience depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), substance abuse, and thoughts of self-harm.

S.I.D.S.
Sudden Informant Death or Suicide

Isolation
The experience of whistleblowing can be isolating and traumatic.

Mental health
They may experience declining physical health, severe financial decline, and other mental health issues.

Other factors

  • Somebody assisted them off the roof.
  • Somebody helped them pull the trigger.
  • Somebody coughed on them and gave them a highly infectious disease/cancer/MRSA.

Grant Stockdale:
Grant Stockdale, a close friend of John F. Kennedy died on 2nd December, 1963 when he fell (or was pushed) from his office on the thirteenth story of the Dupont Building in Miami. Stockdale did not leave a suicide note...

Harry Hoxsey:
In 1967, he received surgery during which "something went wrong". For the last seven years of his life he was an invalid. Isolated and almost alone, people had forgotten about him; he died in 1974 without even an obituary in the Dallas newspapers.

J. Clayton (Doctor):
Dr. Cooperson was found dead from a single pistol wound, and Dr. Clayton was also found dead; his brother (also a doctor) found poison – belladonna/strychnine/ bromide mixture – in Clayton's blood

Jack Ruby:
During his trial Ruby claimed he had killed Lee Harvey Oswald because he "couldn't bear the idea of the President's widow being subjected to testifying at the trial of Oswald". Later he changed his mind claiming that his lawyer, Tom Howard, had put him up to saying it.

James Black:
On August 1, 2003, James W. Black was found on his bed in his apartment. The autopsy described it as a natural death, a "possible heart attack". At the time of his death, he was 51 years old, in perfect health, and had never had any heart problems.

James V. Forrestal:
At around 1:45 am on May 22, 1949, some seven weeks after his admission to the hospital, Forrestal plunged from a 16th floor window of the hospital to his death. A belt or cord, said to be from his dressing gown, was tied tightly around his neck.

Jason Thomas:
a pharmaceutical researcher testing cancer treatments at Novartis, was found dead in a Massachusetts lake on March 17, 2026, after disappearing without a trace three months earlier.

Jim Keith:
Researcher Jim Keith died at Washoe Medical Hospital on September 7, 1999, during surgery to repair a broken knee he suffered after falling off the stage at the Burning Man Festival in Black Rock, Nevada. Doctors stated that a blood clot was released during the surgery and traveled to the heart, causing a pulmonary edema.

Jim Koethe:
Jim Koethe decided to write a book about the assassination of Kennedy. However, he died on 21st September, 1964. It seems that a man broke into his Dallas apartment and killed him by a karate chop to the throat.

John Badwey (Doctor):
He had suddenly developed unusual pneumonia-like symptoms, and then died within two weeks.

John Barnett:
John Barnett worked for Boeing for more than 30 years before retiring in 2017. He was subsequently found dead in his truck in the hotel car park, reportedly died from a “self-inflicted gunshot wound”.

Dean, of Wichita, Kan., had reportedly been in good health until about two weeks ago, when he was admitted to the hospital, the outlet reported. However, by April 21 he was in “very critical condition,” and had tested positive for influenza B, MRSA, and pneumonia, the outlet said.

Karla Turner:
She wanted us to fight back – with the same courage that she herself showed when, after a period of struggle – just like Mae Brussell and Ann Livingston – she succumbed to a particularly virulent, fast-acting form of breast cancer, on Jan. 9, 1996.

The first person to die linked to the case was Karyn Kupcinet...It was argued that the conspirators were trying to frighten off her father and journalist, Irv Kupcinet from telling what he knew.

A research scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), passed away on July 30, 2023 at the age of 59, but the cause of death was never made public, and no record of an autopsy being performed could be found.

Milbank Johnson (Doctor):
He died of an apparent heart attack in 1944, but it was later discovered that he had been fatally poisoned. He died hours before a press conference where he was to announce to the world that Rife’s electronic therapy had cured every patient (16 out of 16) in that medical study supervised by the University of Southern California.

Milton William Cooper:
Cooper was shot dead on November 5, 2001 during a gun battle outside his Arizona home with Sheriff's Deputies, at the age of 58.

Monica Reza:
JPL's new Director of the Materials Processing Group, vanished without a trace in June 2025, just months after beginning her tenure at the NASA lab.

Paul Bennewitz gradually became more and more paranoid, claiming that aliens came through the walls of his house at night and injected him with chemicals. He began keeping guns and knives all over his house. Finally, he had to be hospitalized for "exhaustion", and subsequently died on June 23, 2003.

Roger Craig (Police Officer):
Roger Craig had been named Officer of the Year by the Dallas Traffic Commission and he was promoted four times. He was to receive no further promotion or commendation after his refusal to withdraw his identification of the Mauser and admit to being wrong about his identification of the man who ran from the Depository to be picked up by the Rambler on Elm Street. For this he suffered the most dire consequences.

Ron Bonds:
In April 2001, fifteen hours after eating a meal with warm beef from a Mexican restaurant in Atlanta, after an agonizing evening of vomiting and diarrhea, Bonds was taken by ambulance from his home to Grady Memorial Hospital, and died.

Ruth Drown:
She was put into jail and while incarcerated they destroyed many of her instruments. After her release, she was a broken woman and died shortly thereafter from a stroke in 1962.
