Yorkshire Incident
Incident Name: The Yorkshire Incident
Country : UK

Todmorden UFO Mystery (1980): The most famous Yorkshire UFO incident involves Zigmund Adamski, a 56-year-old miner who vanished in June 1980. His body was found five days later in Todmorden, 20 miles from his home, with unexplained burns on his neck and shoulders, missing personal items, and a mysterious unidentified ointment on his wounds. The coroner, James Turnbull, called it the biggest mystery of his career. The case gained international attention after police officer Alan Godfrey, who discovered the body, reported a UFO sighting six months later in Todmorden, claiming he was briefly abducted. This event cemented Todmorden’s reputation as a UK UFO hotspot.

Recent Sightings (2020s): Yorkshire continues to report frequent UFO sightings. In September 2024, a strange object was photographed floating above Whernside, one of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, sparking debate with explanations ranging from a weather balloon to a Star Trek-like spacecraft. In 2020, government reports revealed 156 UFO sightings across Yorkshire between 2000 and 2009, including reports of jellyfish-like objects, fireballs, and silent, diamond-shaped crafts. A woman in Todmorden broke a 40-year silence in 2021, describing a diamond-shaped, color-changing UFO she saw in 1981—just a year after Godfrey’s encounter.

This event, combined with proximity to Menwith Hill air base and Leeds Bradford Airport, contribute to the region’s enduring reputation for unexplained aerial phenomena.
