First of all, I have to thank Harsha for being the middleman in this
discussion. I am trying to get my non-Hayes modem to co-operate with
BBS's and my computer, and I hope to be able to communicate directly
soon. (How do I upload or download files, anyway? - one little problem
to iron out; this com stuff is Greek to me - I'm only WP51 literate!)
Frankly, John, I and my NAICCR cohorts were amazed to learn that _real_
data about British crop circles was unavailable. We've seen the nice
photos in everyone's books, and we are versed in arguments from both
the Meaden (Wernikoff) and Andrews (Chorost) camps. But exactly how
many there are, in what crop, when found, etc. is still sketchy. Fortu-
nately, some of this information is starting to trickle out. But the
Brits have told me it's partly due to hoarding of data and partly due
to bucks; the market for publication of circle pics is BIG, and some
are simply trying to cash in.
We also seem to under attack for pointing out that UFO CE2's bear a
rather striking resemblance to crop circles, though in years past
they were called "saucer nests". The Phillips' catalog of trace cases
has pages and pages of swirled areas in crops going back several decades.
Most did not have associated UFOs, and were simply found by farmers, just
like today. No "pictograms", mind you, just swirls (I think the picto-
grams are a special case). However, the latest is that Randles and Fuller
are now digging through CE2 records to find cases that might support the
vortex theory.

Your Swamp Gas Journal is in the mail today (20 August 1991).
As for microwaves, I am aware of Brandenburg's experiments in bending
grain. However, even _he_ noted that the power requirements were pro-
hibitive. Grant has tried some microwave tests, too. (Harsha has some
good ideas about germination tests and some things I can't pronounce,
let alone type.) When I tried to get some mu-wave experts here in
Manitoba to comment, they couldn't find anything good to say about
Brandenburg's article. This is all the more evidence, I think, to sup-
port some sort of official scientific investigation into the phenomena,
at least just to straighten out the mess and cut through the ****.
I think the Meier case is probably a hoax (sorry, Bill).
I have read Kinder's book, and I've some of Stevens' colour plates. I
have also seen the digitization of the photos by Spaulding, which de-
tected a wire holding up a model in one of the photos. A recent inter-
view with Vallee, published on Paranet, was also rather negative. I
don't think Meier is much different from Adamski or other contactees.
The circles in SZ, however, are definitely similar to British ones;
Grant recently got photos of them, and spoke with an investigator.

Part 3
The TST has been proposed as an explanation for plasma vortices; after all,
that's what the TST is all about. Persinger has claimed that TST energy
would create physical trace effects, and I have heard that he has informal-
ly linked his theory with crop circles. I'll have to check, but I seem to
recall that his first book about the TST included an attempt to correlate
physical trace cases with earthquakes.
I think that answers all your points (he said as he waded through printouts).
One last thing, and this is directed to ALL:
Although Wernikoff has been directing people to Mike Chorost, I spoke with
Chorost a few days ago, and he is suggesting that NAICCR could compile the
American reports for him. He is busy writing up a report for the Fund for
UFO Research which supported his recent trip to England, and he had less
information about some American cases than we have.
NAICCR is an independent group, and we are in touch with MUFON, CUFOS and
groups in Britain. We're interested in collecting the data and doing some
cursory analyses, and also providing the data to whomever wants it. After
all, that's science, right? I would urge anyone with a crop circle report,
news clipping or whatever, to go ahead and send it to Mike, but try and get
the info to us, as well, so that we can keep track of the cases as they occur.
Regards,
Chris Rutkowski {:)
