In a nation wide evening newspaper was two articles about UFOs.
Here is my direct translation, notice that English is not my native
language.


THREE UFOS IN SANTAHAMINA

Conscript soldiers in Santahamina made a shocking sighting in
Saturday evening in garrison area, when "three flying saucers"
appeared behind the clouds.

- They were at least the same size as a passenger plane, bright
and silent, a conscript soldier describes his observations.

During the summer there has been several UFO sightings around the
Finland.  Skeptics believe that UFO stories are inspired by
economical depression.

Three conscript soldiers in Santahamina claim to have seen three
flying saucers in the sky flashing strange light.  Conscripts are
convinced that it was not any normal light effect or an aeroplane.
Conscripts made their sighting in Saturday at 7 PM.

- At first one flying object shaped like a saucer came into sight
in the sky.  Soon two other saucers appeared on both sides of the
first one.  We made jokes about it at first but decided to take
pictures anyhow.

- We thought that we keep the whole thing to ourselves because no
one would believe us.  However, after sleeping a night we decided to
tell newspapers about the flying saucers.

"We had no time to chat"

The warm weather in Saturday didn't make conscripts to see
visions.  They are sure that the things were extra terrestial space
craft.

- They were such flying saucers which presumably some others,
too, have seen.

- Ships were visible a couple of minutes between the clouds.
Then they disappeared as fast as they have turned up.

- We had no time to talk.  We concentrated only on taking
pictures, one of the conscripts tells.

Conscripts want to keep their identity secret as they are afraid
of laying themselves open to ridicule in their unit.

- Well this is an unbelievable story, conscripts state.

No strange objects in air space

Authorities have not received any information of strange flying
objects.  Helsinki-Vantaa ground control have not made observations
of strange invaders in air space.

The ground control in Pirkkala, Tampere, doesn't believe in UFO
stories, either.  Nothing differing from the normal has been seen.



Flashing light phenomenon in Rantasalmi

UFO BURNED CIRCLES ON LAWN

According to experts a noteworthy UFO sighting has been revealed
in the village of Tuusmaki in Rantasalmi.  A nocturnal flashing
phenomenon left behind circular, diameter of 125 cm, traces in
regular pattern on farmer Reijo Jaaskelainen's lawn.  The
investigations of UFO event rated as noteworthy are unfinished.

The farmer Jaaskelainen's wife woke up at night with a strange
feeling and when she looked out she saw flashing light phenomena.
According to her some phenomenon illuminated the whole nearby region.
The incident happened on moonlight night in August.  The woman also
saw some "lighting" on the clear night sky.

Reijo Jaaskelainen noticed in the morning that regular circular
traces had appeared on the lawn.  The grass had burned brown inside
the traces the diameter of which is 125 cm.  According to
Jaaskelainen four circles lie about three meters apart and they form
a square.

The residents of nearby houses in Tuusmaki has acquainted with
the miracle.  The neighbors who had seen the frightening traces
encouraged the farmer to look for help from authorities or UFO
experts.

After getting tips from the folk in farm an expert working in the
Ultra magazine got acquainted with the UFO traces during the weekend.
After preliminary examinations he stated that with great probability
"the traces are real".  According to the expert the marks in question
might e.g. be traces of the landing stand of an unknown space ship.

In the area of burned lawn there has not been measured any risen
radiation as far as is known.  UFO experts have anyhow taken with
them photos of brown grass and a soil sample, the help of which the
mystical traces are now analyzed more carefully.

A formal report to the police of Rantasalmi has not been made as
nothing exceptional other than nightly lights and the traces in the
morning have been seen.  E.g. no animals in farm are missing.

- There is nothing exceptional if UFOs visit a yard at night, the
police in duty in Rantasalmi are joking.
